Personnel changes in the team of Knowledge Unlatched
Berlin, 04 April 2019. The team of Knowledge Unlatched (KU), the international initiative for Open Access, is pleased to announce the latest additions to its team. Maud Ruget and Wilson de Souza Paiao have joined the Berlin-based team and a fulltime sales position in North America has been added to help expand KU’s worldwide activities. In addition, a generational change in the advisory bodies is taking place, as well as changes reflecting the rapidly growing internationalization of KU's activities. Maud Ruget, who has previously worked for various French and German publishers as well as the Institut français, will support the Publisher Relations team in working with publishers worldwide. Knowledge Unlatched already cooperates with more than 150 publishers and imprints of all sizes and continues to expand its cooperation.
Wilson de Souza Paiao, who previously worked for over 13 years in various bookstores in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, will be responsible for sales activities to libraries in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking regions, an important growth market for KU. A total of 15 people now work for Knowledge Unlatched.
The founder of KU, Frances Pinter, retired from the KU Advisory Board at the end of March 2019. David Worlock, an internationally renowned publishing expert based in London, will take on the role of Chair of the KU Advisory Board.
In addition, the Library Steering Committee, the central advisory body for geographic expansion and the development of the KU product portfolio, will be expanded further. Renowned library experts from Germany, Japan, Colombia, Brazil and Indonesia will strengthen the 20-member expert group in the future.
"Knowledge Unlatched is growing strongly and at the same time operating in a market that is extremely dynamic," explains Dr. Sven Fund, Managing Director of Knowledge Unlatched. "We are delighted to have strengthened our team and are pleased to have renowned experts at our side as consultants".
Commenting on the retirement from the Advisory Board, Sven Fund said: "Knowledge Unlatched owes a great deal to its founder Frances Pinter. Her creativity and entrepreneurship have given KU a strong foundation on which we can build today. We wish Frances all the best with her new projects as Senior Research Fellow at the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, and are very glad to have had her support."
