Round 2 pledging period extended
The Knowledge Unlatched Round 2 pledging period is being extended by one month and will now end on 28 February 2016.
There are two reasons for the extension. Firstly, we are concluding a number of exciting consortia deals which are taking a while to shape. As these arrangements require more time to complete, extending the pledging period until the end of February 2016 will help the efforts succeed. We are hopeful that more consortia will engage their communities in support of KU and we welcome conversations with those who are interested.
Secondly, the upcoming break for the holiday season has extended the decision period for many libraries as multiple subject specialists are being consulted on the increased number of titles and subject areas offered in the Round 2 Collection. Having introduced an element of choice we are finding that it is taking libraries longer to decide whether and which packages to support.
The new timeline is as below.
October 2015 – end February 2016 – Library pledging period
March 2016 – Preparation of content and metadata
March 2016 – Invoicing libraries
March/April 2016 onwards – Unlatching of books
